Cellulose insulation is made from shredded, recycled paper products such as newspapers, cardboard, other paper-based materials, and sometimes fibrous cloth materials treated. This shredded mixture is treated with fire retardants and other chemicals to increase its resistance to fire and pests, and is then blown into walls, attics, and other spaces using special equipment.
